POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Site Construction Manager oversees the activities of personnel involved in the construction of buildings or other infrastructure projects. This role includes assisting in the planning of construction methods, specifications, timelines, and material requirements. The manager inspects ongoing work to ensure compliance with specifications and adherence to project timelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.


• Knowledge of various construction types and methodologies (steel structures, masonry, pre-cast buildings, pre-engineered metal structures, timber-framed buildings, etc.).

• Familiarity with different construction delivery systems.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.

• Implements and adheres to safety protocols and practices.

• Organizes and maintains onsite documentation, including plans, specifications, and activity logs.

• Analyzes critical path activities.

• Understands the permitting process, building codes, regulations, and inspection requirements.

• Orders supplies and materials necessary for project completion.

• Takes proactive measures to address delays, adverse weather, or emergencies at the construction site.


• Communicates effectively with general superintendents, management, clients, contractors, and design professionals to address and resolve issues related to work procedures and construction challenges.

• Directs and supervises laborers and subcontractors.

• Explains plans and specifications to workers, subcontractors, and clients.

• Plans, organizes, and directs activities related to the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Coordinates subcontractors and crews.

• Develops project schedules in logical sequences to meet critical path timelines.

• Reviews job specifications to determine suitable construction methods.

• Inspects both self-performed and subcontractor work for quality assurance and compliance with construction methods (quality control).

• Conducts site layout and utilizes layout instruments.

• Operates basic hand tools and power tools.

• Capable of operating basic machinery (forklifts, skid loaders, water pumps, grinders, bobcat attachments, tampers, lifts).

• Possesses finish carpentry skills.

• Proficient in building framing techniques.

• Experienced in formwork and the use of form systems.

• Ensures adherence to safety measures (such as wearing hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.) and incident reporting protocols. Reports issues to the General Superintendent, Safety Director, or HR Director.

• Performs additional tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

SKILLS:
• Knowledge of the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy construction.

• Familiarity with various building types and construction methods.

• Understanding of first aid and applicable safety measures.

• Ability to work independently and complete daily tasks according to the work schedule.


• Capable of lifting heavy objects, standing and walking for extended periods, and performing strenuous physical labor under challenging conditions.

• Ability to work safely around operating heavy machinery.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Proficient in the safe and proper use of small equipment and tools.

• Ability to comprehend, follow, and convey written and verbal instructions.

• Reliable attendance and consistency in meeting work schedules.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and capability to perform the required tasks.

Willingness and ability to engage in manual labor following both verbal and written directives.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


Regularly works in proximity to moving mechanical parts and in outdoor conditions that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust.

Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.

Must be able to push, pull, or carry objects, utilizing abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.

Requires good manual dexterity and coordination of multiple limbs.

Noise levels are typically high.
