SUMMARY:

The Commercial Credit Analyst is responsible for evaluating intricate commercial relationships, primarily focusing on Commercial & Industrial and Investment Real Estate sectors.

As the analyst develops their expertise, they will undertake the underwriting of sophisticated commercial relationships, which involves assessing adherence to underwriting standards and collaborating closely with lenders to prepare Credit Memorandums.

This analysis encompasses various aspects, including the financial health of the borrower, the probability of meeting financial projections, pertinent market and industry insights, assessment of repayment capabilities, and intricate individual tax returns.

The Commercial Credit Analyst engages with a diverse range of professionals and serves as a representative of the bank in dealings with clients and other stakeholders, which includes client-facing responsibilities.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Independently conducts moderate to complex financial analyses with support from the credit leadership team and Commercial Underwriters.
  • Underwrites commercial loan relationships within established service parameters.
  • Constructs financial models and performs financial analyses, including but not limited to repayment capacity, discounted cash flows, and enterprise valuation.
  • Identifies exceptions to underwriting policies and guidelines using a solid understanding of established protocols.
  • Recognizes key credit strengths and weaknesses along with suitable mitigating factors.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of best practices and regulatory considerations.
  • Assists in preparing Industry Studies as assigned, which may include: i) an overview of regional and national markets, ii) performance analysis of the bank's portfolio, iii) evaluation of industry financial stability and associated risks, iv) recommendations to senior management regarding segment limits for board approval.
  • May participate in internal or cross-functional process improvement initiatives and contribute to management reports.
  • May be involved in or lead the validation of various reports and industry data.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with adequate coursework in Accounting.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of credit management, credit operations, and commercial lending.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Exceptional customer service capabilities.
  • Strong business writing proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail, coupled with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods and utilize a computer.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
  • Must be available to work overtime (including weekends or holidays) as needed to meet deadlines.
