SUMMARY:

The Commercial Credit Analyst is responsible for evaluating intricate commercial relationships, primarily focusing on Commercial & Industrial and Investment Real Estate sectors.

As the analyst gains experience, they will underwrite complex commercial transactions, ensuring adherence to established underwriting policies and collaborating closely with lenders to prepare Credit Memorandums.

Key analysis components include assessing the financial health of borrowers, evaluating the feasibility of projected outcomes, analyzing pertinent market and industry data, and determining repayment capabilities, alongside reviewing detailed individual tax returns.

The Commercial Credit Analyst engages with various professionals and represents the institution in dealings with clients and other stakeholders, which includes client-facing responsibilities.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Independently conducts moderate to complex financial analyses with support from the credit leadership team and Commercial Underwriters.
  • Underwrites commercial loan relationships while adhering to established service levels.
  • Constructs financial models and performs analyses, including repayment capacity assessments, discounted cash flow evaluations, and enterprise valuations.
  • Identifies exceptions to underwriting policies and guidelines through a solid understanding of established procedures.
  • Recognizes key credit strengths and weaknesses, along with appropriate mitigating factors.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists in preparing Industry Studies as assigned, which may include i) regional and national market reviews, ii) portfolio performance analysis, iii) financial stability assessments of industries and key risks, iv) recommendations to senior management regarding segment limits for board approval.
  • May participate in internal or cross-functional process improvement initiatives and contribute to management reports.
  • May be involved in validating various reports and industry data.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with sufficient coursework in Accounting.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of credit management, credit operations, and commercial lending.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Strong business writing capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail, coupled with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods and utilize a computer.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends or holidays, as needed to meet deadlines.
