Job Overview

WSP is embarking on a search for a Vice President of Bridge Engineering. This role is pivotal in our efforts to enhance our Transportation Division. We are seeking a leader who will contribute to a dynamic organization dedicated to fulfilling client objectives and addressing their challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical guidance and leadership for comprehensive due diligence, investigation, remediation, enhancement, and construction of infrastructure projects.
  • Engage in the research, design, conceptualization, planning, and construction of load-bearing structures, including bridges and other significant infrastructure.
  • Offer strategic advice to project managers and leadership to navigate current and future challenges, ensuring documentation and recommendations effectively address risk and innovation.
  • Oversee the quality of deliverables to meet or exceed industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Contributions
  • Collaborate with the district structures management team.
  • Support the growth and development of the structures team.
  • Plan and supervise engineering activities on bridge-related projects.
  • Act as a project manager and assist others in managing major structural projects.
  • Represent the firm at industry meetings and conferences.
  • Provide recommendations for project staffing and assist in technical proposal development.
  • Ensure engineering services align with professional standards and client expectations.
  • Deliver innovative design solutions for bridges and transit structures.
  • Resolve project challenges collaboratively, particularly those influenced by structural solutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including owners and contractors.
  • Assist in managing transportation projects effectively.
  • Enhance the firm's reputation for excellence in bridge engineering.
Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in structural design, particularly in bridge engineering.
  • Preferred Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on bridges.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations related to structural engineering.
  • Team-oriented attitude with the ability to mentor junior staff.
  • Familiarity with related technical disciplines, including highway and drainage design.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Experience in construction, especially in sensitive environments.
  • Proven track record in managing engineering activities on transportation projects.
  • Business development experience in structure-centered transportation projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of seismic modeling and bridge structure design.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) Registration.
