About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Ventures team at Walmart. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge solutions for our retail data platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and participate in medium- to large-scale projects, reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, and gathering requested information.
  • Write and develop code, conduct unit testing, and communicate status and issues to team members and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project teams and cross-functional teams to design and develop scalable, high-performance software solutions.
  • Take ownership of full-stack development, including front-end and back-end components, and utilize expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices to create robust and efficient applications.
  • Design and optimize databases using SQL and NoSQL technologies for data storage and retrieval, and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka.
  • Work with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure to build scalable and secure applications, and utilize the ELK stack for log analysis and monitoring of system performance.
  • Develop and optimize queries using Big Query to analyze large datasets, and collaborate with the team to perform code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure high-quality code delivery.
Requirements
  • At least 9+ years of relevant experience in building highly resilient, highly scalable systems.
  • Good understanding of Java and Microservices, and hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Cloud (Azure/GCP/AWS), Kafka, Memcached/Redis, or any caching technologies, relational DBMS (MySQL, Oracle, etc.).
  • Ability to write and review design and code, and understand product and project management space with Agile methodologies.
  • CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Jenkins.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of at least one cloud-based project, and experience in building extensible platforms, data pipelines is desirable.
  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly, and proficient in new and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to balance the long-term 'big picture' and short-term implications of design decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills, and ability to influence and persuade without direct control.
