Position Title: Lead Software Solutions Architect

Type: Hybrid – 3x per week onsite

Duration: 12-month contract with extensions

We are in search of a seasoned Lead Software Solutions Architect to spearhead our technological advancements and foster architectural excellence within our organization. The ideal candidate will bring extensive technical knowledge, a strategic outlook, and practical experience in constructing highly scalable and efficient systems.

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in C# and the .NET 8 framework, along with a solid grasp of its internals and performance enhancement strategies.
  • Expertise in ASP.NET Core for the design and implementation of large-scale, distributed APIs and web services.
  • In-depth knowledge of database technologies, including PostgreSQL/MSSQL, NoSQL (e.g., DocumentDB), and database performance optimization.
  • Significant experience with event-driven architectures, Kafka, Redis, and microservices design patterns.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cloud-native architectures and proficiency with AWS services and best practices.
  • Expert-level skills in application performance monitoring and optimization utilizing tools like Dynatrace.
  • Advanced capabilities in log management and analysis using Splunk, with the capacity to design thorough logging strategies.
  • Mastery of OOP principles, design patterns, and API design best practices, including versioning and backward compatibility.
  • Expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong background in Agile methodologies and experience leading Agile teams.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot and the ability to integrate them into the development workflow.
  • Extensive experience in architecting and developing complex distributed systems, including worker services, background jobs, and high-throughput processing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the architectural design and implementation of highly scalable, resilient, and efficient backend systems and microservices.
  • Promote the adoption of best practices in software architecture, design patterns, and coding standards throughout the organization.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting and debugging of intricate, distributed systems.
  • Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data access patterns for maximum efficiency and scalability.
  • Architect comprehensive monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using Splunk, Dynatrace, and other tools to ensure system reliability and performance at scale.
  • Lead code reviews, mentor team members, and cultivate a culture of technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business objectives.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and frameworks to enhance system performance, scalability, and developer productivity.
  • Design and implement robust security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and architectural trends, continuously updating the team's technical roadmap.
  • Provide technical leadership in critical projects and initiatives, offering hands-on coding and problem-solving when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain architectural documentation, including system diagrams, data flow models, and technical specifications.
  • The ideal candidate will be a visionary technologist with a proven track record of architecting and implementing large-scale, high-performance systems. They should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, and a passion for solving complex technical challenges. The Lead Software Solutions Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's technical direction and driving innovation across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of health insurance, employee benefits, and HCM technology.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, ACA).
  • Knowledge of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) standards and processes.
  • Experience with enrollment systems and benefits administration workflows.
  • Familiarity with retirement plans and wealth management concepts.
  • Experience working with large datasets typical in health and benefits industries.
  • Knowledge of plan administration processes and systems.
  • Familiarity with LIMRA standards and other industry-specific protocols.
  • Awareness of regulatory compliance requirements in the health and benefits sector.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
  • Familiarity with insurance industry terminology and concepts.
  • Familiarity with 401(k) plans and retirement benefits.
