We are seeking an Anesthesia Technician II to join our team on a per diem basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for stocking anesthetic supplies for ORs, maintaining anesthetic equipment, ensuring anesthetic equipment is available, and assisting clinicians with patient care.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in anesthesia technology and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing assistance to all anesthesia clinicians during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
- Maintaining anesthetic equipment and ensuring it is available for use
- Assisting clinicians with patient care, including transporting patients and retrieving and returning drugs to the drug delivery system
- Communicating with circulating nurses and responding to codes within the limitations of the above duties
- Calibrating and running Quality Control and Quality Assurance analysis on anesthesia machines
- Setting up intravenous, central venous, arterial, pulmonary artery catheters, and other equipment using sterile techniques
- Clearing debris and equipment from the surface and drawers of used anesthesia machines
- Insuring the sterility and cleanliness of all machines
- Performing all standard procedural checks on equipment
- Assisting with trouble shooting technical problems and making minor repairs and adjustments to equipment
- Making available fluids, Lactated Ringers, Plasma Lite, Normal Saline, Hespan, Flextend, FFP, Whole Blood, and Albumin
- Disposing of supplies used in regular and contaminated cases
- Insuring medical pipeline is operational, including N2O, O2, and Medical Air
- Checking the status of nitrous oxide, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide cylinder banks to determine available supply pressure
- Replacing empty cylinders
- Assisting with the training of Anesthesia Technicians and apprising supervisors of their performance
- Ensuring workroom areas are clean and orderly before, during, and after each shift
Minimum qualifications include an Associate's degree or certification from ASATT or ATA, two years of work experience in a periop area or related field, and familiarity with Operating Room drug and equipment terminology.
Preferred qualifications include ASATT certification, a Bachelor's degree, and qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
