The University of New Mexico School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and well-trained academic physician to join the Urogynecology Division as a faculty member. This is an open rank, open track full-time faculty position in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The successful incumbent will be involved in clinical teaching and clinical research at clinics on and off campus. The Division is host to an accredited Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship, with a primary objective to train well-rounded, subspecialist physicians who are experts in surgical anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the pelvic floor.
The Division of Urogynecology is also home to a dedicated pessary clinic focused on the care of women with prolapse and incontinence who prefer non-surgical treatment of their pelvic floor dysfunction. Additionally, the Division of Urogynecology welcomes creative research opportunities with a team of research coordinators to aid in these adventures.
The incumbent hired will be expected to participate in the education and surgical training of medical students, residents, and fellows in the clinic, classroom, and operating room, and will provide additional surgical opportunities for training residents and fellows. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities, is essential.
The University of New Mexico, Health Sciences Center is the largest academic health complex in the state, combining its four mission areas - education, research, patient care, and community outreach - to provide New Mexicans with the highest level of healthcare. The School of Medicine at HSC is celebrated for its innovations in medical education and has earned a reputation for making diversity in the physician workforce a priority.
The lifestyle is also very attractive: Albuquerque, a beautiful city with mountains to the east and a mesa to the west, is renowned for its fantastic weather. Outdoor activities are abundant, and the cost of living is moderate, while offering all the amenities of a large city. The state of New Mexico is multicultural and diverse with excellent local cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, multiple cultural and historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts, and mountains.
The successful incumbent must meet the listed minimum requirements and provide a current curriculum vitae at the time of application. This position offers competitive compensation (salary commensurate with experience) and benefits package to include health, professional liability, and disability insurance, relocation support, retirement plan, and CME support.
