Job Summary

The University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Department of Neurology seeks a qualified Neuro-hospitalist to join our multidisciplinary group of Neurology faculty. The successful candidate will provide quality patient care in the inpatient neuro-hospitalist, stroke service, and teleneurology service at UNM Hospital. Additionally, the position will assume on-call responsibilities for adult clinical services with fellow providers and participate in tele-neurology services.

Academic Responsibilities

The successful candidate will participate in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and research activities of the department. UNM Hospital is the tertiary care center for the State and the only Comprehensive Stroke Center, NAEC level 4 epilepsy center, and ALS / MDA center in the State. The Department of Neurology has 42 full-time and part-time attending physicians and is home to well-established Residency and multiple Fellowship programs.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a MD degree or equivalent, be board eligible or certified in Neurology, and have board eligible or certified in vascular neurology or neurocritical care or established neuro-hospitalist fellowship training, completed by start date. The candidate must also be eligible to work in the United States. Preferred qualifications include 2-3 years of clinical experience in neurological care and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
