Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a vital member of our healthcare team at West Florida Medical Center Clinic PA, responsible for providing high-quality patient care and supporting our medical staff in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Assist physicians with direct patient care, conduct office and hospital procedures, and provide exceptional patient experience.
  • Administrative Support: Manage patient records, schedule surgeries, x-rays, and labs, and communicate with patients regarding test results and appointment status.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members, ensuring seamless coordination of care.
  • Clinical Support: Assist with office surgical procedures, remove sutures, staples, and change dressings, and maintain a clean and sterile environment.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient exams, treatment protocols, and operative discussions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Education and Training: Educate patients regarding visit, exam, treatment, and medications, including side effects, procedures, and testing.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with healthcare team members to ensure timely and efficient patient care, and participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nursing program with an Associate's degree.
  • Experience: Two years of clinical experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed by the State of Florida as a Licensed Practical Nurse prior to hire and/or transfer into an LPN position and maintain licensure throughout employment in this position.
  • Certification: Must hold and maintain Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) certification.

  • Customer Service: Displays excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal skills, and close attention to detail.
  • Communication: Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, and is able to communicate effectively with individuals of varying socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with staff members at all levels of the organization in a cooperative, team-oriented manner.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of English language, both in written and verbal communication, and has a preferred ability of typing 40 cwpm.
Physical and Emotional Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform physical labor, including holding, stooping, kneeling, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds without mechanical aid, for an extended period of time.
  • Emotional Demands: Must exhibit stable work behaviors daily, possess adequate individual coping skills, and remain calm and professional regardless of workload or time constraints.
Work Environment
  • Work Setting: Clinical/Medical practice back office operations.
  • Work Schedule: May be required to work extended hours to meet department needs, and must be available to customers and staff throughout the day.
