Job Description

**About the Role**

Meritage Homes Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Land Development Intern. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the land development process, working closely with our internal business leaders and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the acquisition and development of new communities, from pre-acquisition to project close-out.
  • Gain exposure to all aspects of land development, including plan procurement, site construction activities, contract negotiations, and schedule adherence.
  • Interact daily with various departments of the company, subcontractors, customers, and municipalities.
  • Conduct property value analyses, learn about construction regulations and zoning ordinances, and environmental restrictions.
  • Work closely with internal business leaders to learn the homebuilding industry, the Meritage business model, and an assigned functional area.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects involving other interns and business leaders centered around current business challenges.
  • Present real-world business recommendations to senior leadership that can help drive our strategy.
  • Write a paper focusing on the experience or another assigned topic.

Requirements:

  • Actively enrolled in a degree program from a regionally accredited university or college.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Preferred: Experience working in a team environment on cross-functional projects, experience dealing with ambiguity, and experience in a leadership capacity or role.
