Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Memorial Healthcare. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining a safe and sterile environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare equipment and packs for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies are available and in good working order.
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique, including proper scrubbing, gowning, and gloving, to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Identify and obtain needed supplies and equipment, ensuring timely delivery to the surgical team.
  • Assist in ensuring correct sponge, needle, and instrument counts, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Label and identify specimens correctly, adhering to hospital protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to hospital safety standards and protocols.
  • Clean up the operating room after each procedure, ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
  • Maintain specialty carts, ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked and easily accessible.
  • Attend inservice education programs to stay up-to-date on new procedures, skills, and technologies.
  • Seek assistance from professional staff when additional skills or expertise are required.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Surgical Technology or military training.
  • Completion of an approved program as a surgical technologist, with certification preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification required upon hire and ongoing.
  • Previous experience in multiple surgical specialties is preferred.
Physical and Mental Demands

This role requires the ability to stand, kneel, and crouch frequently, as well as move about, sit, climb stairs, and bend on a daily basis. The ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds is also required. Corrective devices may be used to meet physical requirements.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with physicians, patients, and staff. A professional and courteous demeanor is essential, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and adapt to changing situations.
