Job Description

CHEP is a global leader in the supply chain and logistics industry, with a presence in over 55 countries and a team of 11,000 employees. As an Automation Technician at CHEP, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant maintenance programs.

The Automation Technician is responsible for performing and managing plant maintenance programs under the direction of the Plant Manager. This includes ensuring that employee health and safety, product safety, and the protection of the environment are never compromised, and that all maintenance activities enhance product quality, plant performance, and business priorities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial machine maintenance, with experience in troubleshooting and repairing plant production equipment. They will also have knowledge of HMI operation and troubleshooting, as well as a proven track record of production machine maintenance and repair success.

The Automation Technician will work closely with internal and external engineering services and local parts vendors to ensure automated equipment operates at the highest level of efficiencies. They will also be responsible for accurate and timely documentation of performance and processes as required by local and regional leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and manage plant maintenance programs under the direction of the Plant Manager
  • Ensure employee health and safety, product safety, and environmental protection are never compromised
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant production equipment, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric systems
  • Work closely with internal and external engineering services and local parts vendors to ensure automated equipment operates at the highest level of efficiencies
  • Accurately and timely document performance and processes as required by local and regional leadership
Requirements
  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial machine maintenance
  • Knowledge of HMI operation and troubleshooting
  • Proven track record of production machine maintenance and repair success
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in industrial machine maintenance
  • Knowledge of Rockwell Automation Compact Logic (RSLogix 5000)
  • Experience with Ethernet IP networks and VFDs
