Job Description

At Dennis Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Construction Manager to join our team. As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our construction activities, including coordination of sub-contractors, site safety programs, project schedule, and project budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with project management to develop and update project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Manage project accounting, budgeting, and cost management
  • Establish and maintain site safety procedures with our safety team
  • Oversee process, mechanical, and utility equipment installations
  • Coordinate permitting, code, and regulatory administration and approval
  • Manage change orders and general construction administration
  • Coordinate field engineering and inspection activities
  • Manage third-party testing, inspection, and relationships
  • Research construction management best practices
  • Collaborate with owners, sub-contractors, building officials, and our A/E team
  • Prepare and administer third-party agreements
  • Conduct jobsite walks and audits to ensure project progress and compliance
  • Procure project services and equipment
  • Manage project punch-list inspection
  • Promote continuous and productive communication between project participants
  • Support and coordinate facility start-up
  • Prepare and maintain project reports and logs
  • Work with sub-contractors to ensure schedule compliance and determine alternative resources or options
  • Review and maintain submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Collaborate with Project Controllers and Project Manager on supplier invoices and client billing
  • Coordinate project close-out activities

About You:

  • Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field
  • GPA: 3.0 or above
  • Familiarity with design-build construction method (strongly preferred)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for client interactions
  • Past job site experience working on industrial building projects (past internships strongly preferred)
  • Fundamental understanding of all phases of construction and ability to read and interpret construction documents, schedules, and budgets
  • Proficiency with Excel and MS Project (strongly preferred)
  • Ability to work 10 days onsite, 4 days off, and willing to relocate during internship
  • Meet travel requirements up to 100% to projects throughout the USA and Canada

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and prolonged periods of standing and walking around project site with uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers
  • Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times

Travel Requirement:

Our projects are located throughout the United States and Canada, and this is a site-based position with a 10 days on / 4 days off work schedule. Projects typically last from 6 to 12+ months. Meal and lodging per diems are provided along with reasonable travel provisions. Up to 100% overnight travel is required based on project needs.
