About the Role

Nexamp is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Utility-Scale Solar Project Developer to lead the development of utility-scale solar projects across the Mid-West and NY markets. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for originating and developing large utility-scale projects, leveraging your expertise in clean energy policy and market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Origination and Development: Identify and secure new project opportunities, negotiate site control agreements, and manage project permitting and interconnection processes.
  • Value Proposition Development: Craft compelling value propositions that highlight avoided costs, load profiles, applicable tariffs, and layered revenue streams.
  • Business Development and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with junior business development staff to develop and implement effective lead campaign strategies, build relationships with site owners, energy users, and other project stakeholders, and facilitate project permitting and other initiatives.
  • Project Management and Coordination: Manage development schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective projects, coordinate with external consultants as needed, and foster support from state, county, and local governments, community groups, and abutters.
  • Internal Collaboration and Support: Work closely with internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction, and develop sales presentations, proposals, and other materials to support project development efforts.
Requirements
  • Energy Industry Experience: Three or more years of experience in a business development role, with at least one year in utility-scale development.
  • Commercial Real Estate and Business Model Understanding: Strong understanding of commercial real estate prospecting and business models.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Effective team leader and collaborator with a commitment to Nexamp's mission and a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and present creative solutions.
  • Relationship Building and Trust: Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
