Role Summary: The CNC Service Technician is tasked with ensuring the optimal operation of CNC machinery. This role encompasses the identification and execution of preventive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting machine issues, and collaborating with external technicians for repairs. Additionally, the technician will assist other maintenance staff in the upkeep of production testing and assembly equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, adhering to both manufacturer and internal guidelines.
  • Assess and establish preventive maintenance needs.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and determine necessary repairs, including parts procurement and coordination with external service providers.
  • Collaborate with CNC programmers and machinists to resolve programming and mechanical issues.
  • Engage with external technicians from machine tool manufacturers to address technical challenges.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records to document actions taken.
  • Adjust CNC machine parameters as needed to rectify geometric issues.
  • Utilize in-house lathes, mills, and hand tools for the fabrication of custom machine components.
  • Replace and configure essential components such as servo amplifiers, motors, and bearings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations to maintain safe operational practices.
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by urgent repair needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of CNC machinery within a manufacturing environment.
  • Possession of a Canadian Red Seal Millwright or Industrial Electrician certification is advantageous.
  • A combination of relevant education and practical experience may also be considered.
  • Familiarity with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Mazatrol, Mori Seiki, and/or Okuma is preferred.

  • Comprehensive understanding of custom equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and sensor technologies.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
