Job Overview

Military & Commercial Fasteners, a privately owned industrial distribution and manufacturing firm serving both military and commercial Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), is in search of a CNC Machining Specialist. Our company caters to various sectors including defense, aerospace, heating/cooling, rail, commercial, and transportation.

This CNC Machining Specialist position is dynamic and involves a blend of office duties, floor engagement, troubleshooting, and team support and training. Each day presents unique challenges as Military & Commercial Fasteners operates as a contract manufacturer.

The ideal candidate will possess robust CNC programming capabilities, particularly with Mastercam and Solidworks (or equivalent software), along with a strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes. Experience in collaborating with and training a team of machinists/operators is essential.

The CNC Machining Specialist will operate various machines, including lathes, vertical machining centers, mill-turns, and Swiss screws. We are open to providing training on additional machines if you have experience programming at least two of these types.

  • Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000
  • Work hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Key Responsibilities of the CNC Machining Specialist:

  • Program CNC machines, including lathes, vertical machining centers, mill-turns, and Swiss screws.
  • Convert customer specifications and engineering drawings into actionable production steps and procedures.
  • Procure necessary tooling, inserts, and job-specific materials.
  • Ensure all tooling and machine equipment are ready and available before starting production jobs.
  • Create, modify, and maintain control plans to ensure the production of high-quality parts.
  • Support all technical machining setups and operations to produce parts that meet engineering specifications.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the organization's strategic goals.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding product quality, processes, inspection, and testing techniques.
  • Engage in the sales bidding process by outlining capabilities, limitations, and costs for new and existing projects.
  • Assist Work Area Leads in training initiatives to enhance a flexible production workforce.

Qualifications for the CNC Machining Specialist:

  • Minimum of 4 years of CNC programming experience
  • Previous experience as a CNC Machinist
  • 4 years of experience with Mastercam (or similar software)
  • 4 years of experience with SolidWorks (or similar software)
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of GD&T is preferred
