Job Overview

As a Banquet Captain with Flik Hospitality Group, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of catering operations at the Kellogg Conference Center on the campus of Gallaudet University. Your responsibilities will include assisting with organization, inventory, maintenance reports, managing events, and purchasing food and equipment as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate event setup and breakdown, ensuring that all events are set up correctly based on setup sheets.
  • Assign job duties to service staff, including breakdown and setup, and design the sequence of service based on the type of meal.
  • In the absence of the Director, coordinate, control, and organize staff, maintaining standards of service.
  • Monitor and maintain all banquet areas to be clean and hazard-free at all times.
  • Control payroll and maintain all necessary records.
  • Maintain constant interaction with clients to ensure satisfaction.
  • Coordinate services required by the Stewarding Department, Convention Services, and Kitchen.
  • Maintain the highest levels of quality performance by waiters at all times, providing consistent reinforcement and training to guarantee success.
  • Maintain presence on the floor to ensure that functions flow smoothly and without incident.
  • Ensure all Banquet Checks are signed and posted timely and accurately.
  • Ensure pre-meals briefings are carried out for all events with team members.
  • Act as the client liaison with all operational departments.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction is achieved through effective supervision and delegation of responsibilities, checking on food quality and courteous performance of the entire banquet staff.
  • Ensure meal periods of events are set up on time and to predetermined standards.
  • Equipment maintenance and proper sanitation must be practiced.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Experience as a banquet/catering captain or similar role.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, healthcare, and/or related food service operations.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
  • Associate's degree in Hospitality is preferred.
