Job Summary

As a Banquet Captain at Flik Hospitality Group, you will be responsible for assisting catering operations at the Kellogg Conference Center on the campus of Gallaudet University. Your duties will include organization, inventory, maintenance reports, managing events, and purchasing food and equipment as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all events are set up correctly based on setup sheets.
  • Assign job duties to service staff, including breakdown and setup.
  • Design the sequence of service based on the type of meal.
  • In the Director's absence, coordinate, control, and organize staff, maintaining standards of service.
  • Monitor and maintain all banquet areas to be clean and hazard-free at all times.
  • Control payroll and maintain necessary records.
  • Maintain constant interaction with clients to ensure satisfaction.
  • Coordinate services required by the Stewarding Department, Convention Services, and Kitchen.
  • Maintain the highest levels of quality performance by waiters at all times, consistent reinforcement, and training to guarantee success.
  • Maintain presence on the floor to ensure functions flow smoothly and without incident.
  • Ensure all Banquet Checks are signed and posted timely and accurately.
  • Ensure pre-meals briefings are carried out for all events with team members.
  • Act as the client liaison with all operational departments.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction is achieved through effective supervision and delegation of responsibilities, checking on food quality and courteous performance of the entire banquet staff.
  • Ensure meal periods of events are set up on time and to predetermined standards.
  • Equipment maintenance and proper sanitation must be practiced.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a banquet/catering captain or similar role.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, healthcare, and/or related food service operations.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
  • Associate's degree in Hospitality is preferred.
