About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Substance Abuse Counselor III to join our team. As a Counselor III, you will play a vital role in delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services to participants in our Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
  • Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum and lead face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other therapeutic processes.
  • Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectations for participation and completion.
  • Work directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community.
  • Review treatment plans, evaluate, and record treatment progress, and maintain accurate, timely, and confidential participant records.
  • Collaborate with transition/reentry staff, plans, and prepares transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in a social service-related field and Licensed by, or registered with, the Board of Behavioral Sciences; or Registered with an AOD certifying organization recognized by DHCS; OR
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a social service-related field, AOD certified, and six (6) months of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor; OR
  • An Associate's Degree in social service-related field, AOD certified, and one (1) year of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor; OR
  • A High School Diploma/GED Equivalency, AOD certified, and more than two (2) years of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor.
