Assistant Coach Position

**Job Summary:**
The Assistant Coach is a key member of the Franklin & Marshall College Athletics and Recreation Department, responsible for providing effective leadership and day-to-day management of the squash program. The successful candidate will support the academic mission of the college through athletics and recreation programs by teaching and demonstrating examples of leadership and value-based decision making to student-athletes.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Implement and maintain a standard of performance consistent with the College's goals of academic and athletic excellence, promoting academic achievement among athletes.
- Provide instruction, mentoring, coaching, evaluation of, and guidance to student-athletes to allow them to develop their athletic skills and abilities to maximum potential.
- Assist the Head Coach with managing the program within budgetary guidelines, submitting all budget-related reports as required in a timely manner.
- Ensure facilities and equipment are prepared in advance of practice sessions and games/meets/matches, reporting and monitoring proper maintenance of equipment and practice and contest facilities to ensure safe playing conditions.
- Recruit and develop internal recruiting strategies and programs to identify and attract promising student-athletes, maintaining contact with promising athletes and providing prompt follow-up to inquiries from potential athletes.
**Requirements:**
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum 1 year previous coaching experience is required.
- Current CPR, AED, and first aid certification is required.
- Must pass the NCAA Division III Coaches test.
- Must pass large van certification within 90 days of hire.
- Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty, and staff, and other constituencies is essential.
- Because this position requires driving for college business, the successful candidate must possess a U.S. or Canadian driver's license which has been valid for at least two years, have a driving record that is free from excessive motor vehicle violations within the last three years, and have had no convictions in the last 24 months for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
