Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Fire Safety Systems Technician to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and compliance of fire alarm systems in various environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of fire alarm systems and demonstrate the ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct service and inspections in accordance with NFPA 72 & NFPA 70 standards.
  • Perform troubleshooting and communicate findings effectively to clients and management.
  • Oversee the progress and completion of assigned tasks to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Utilize essential tools such as Multimeter, Tone Generator, and Battery Tester.
  • Accurately complete time sheets, service work orders, and other necessary documentation.
  • Provide ongoing support for existing installations to ensure compliance with current building codes.
  • Assist the Sales team during the estimating phase, including potential product demonstrations.
  • Conduct inspections from elevated positions as required.
  • Maintain eligibility for required certifications (NICET Fire I and NICET Fire II).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in fire alarm system service and inspections.
  • Working knowledge of fire alarm system operations.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Multimeter, Tone Generator, and Battery Tester.
  • Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Proficiency in computer operating systems, particularly the MS Office Suite.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in fire system service and inspections.
  • Advanced knowledge of fire alarm system operations.
  • Strong mechanical skills for troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 72, NFPA 101, NFPA 70, and IBC.
  • Understanding of fire and life safety codes.
  • Certifications such as NICET Fire I and/or NICET Fire II.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials, including ladders and tools.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to spend significant time on construction sites, standing and walking.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders throughout the workday.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record in accordance with company policy.
  • Physical capability to kneel, stoop, and crawl as needed.
