Service Technician

This is an entry-level position for a Service Technician at Rite-Hite, a leading manufacturer and distributor of industrial loading dock and door equipment. The successful candidate will receive extensive initial training and be responsible for developing technical and customer service skills, while assisting senior Technicians and Team Leaders. This position is not intended to be a long-term assignment, but as a learning position prior to working independently as an Installation Technician.
Key Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license, passing DOT medical exam, and applicable driver qualification standards at all times. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing technical skills, knowledge of supported product lines, and proficiency in following company policies and procedures.
- Timely and proper completion of assigned tasks, either individually or under the guidance of a senior Technician.
- Developing and maintaining good customer relations in a manner that exemplifies Rite-Hite's image and commitment to customer service.
- Compliance with all company policies and safety guidelines.
- Assisting in the installation, inspection, service, and repair of equipment in the field under the direction of a senior Installation Technician.
- Completing all required training classes and modules to demonstrate proficiency and understanding.
- Using handheld devices or paper backup forms to accurately complete all necessary paperwork associated with field service, repair, and installation.
- Maintaining compliance with operation and communication standards as per the Field Technician Handbook.
- Operating truck-based cranes, forklifts, welders, torches, and power and hand tools.
- Following all company and customer safety requirements.
- Following all customer-specific requirements, policies, and directions on their work sites.
- Working closely with all other departments in the company, communicating and coordinating activities to efficiently maximize customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
The successful individual will possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and prior mechanical, electrical, or welding experience is helpful but not required. The ideal individual will demonstrate the ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. They will also have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
