The Press Operator will be tasked with operating and maintaining press machinery and controls, acquiring a comprehensive understanding of the pressroom's operations, and ensuring a commitment to quality while working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manually maneuver rolls into position using a hoist, create paster patterns, and operate paster controls for loading.
  • Align plates according to job specifications, ensuring accurate mounting within the slot lock.
  • Guide webs with varying configurations through press units, utilizing proper techniques to navigate over rollers.
  • Prepare color inks, monitor viscosity, and oversee ink feed functions to printing units during operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the press, including rollers and blankets, using appropriate cleaning solvents.
  • Set up and sustain press operations before and throughout production runs.
  • Execute routine tasks daily while maintaining precision and meeting production deadlines.
  • Track and log roll numbers in the system for inventory management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures, including attendance standards.
  • Mechanical aptitude is advantageous.
  • Effective communication skills, both in person and via telephone, with colleagues and other departments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficient in reading, understanding, and composing simple instructions and correspondence.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in printing or press operations is preferred but not mandatory.
