Job Title: Investigator

Join the City and County of San Francisco District Attorney's Office as a skilled Investigator. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting prosecutors in preparing and organizing cases for court.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Investigator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations, gathering and reviewing evidence, and preparing investigative reports. This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are dedicated to promoting justice and repairing harm in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations, including gathering and reviewing evidence, interviewing witnesses and suspects, and preparing investigative reports.
  • Assist prosecutors in preparing and organizing cases for court, including locating missing witnesses and organizing evidence for presentation at trial.
  • Work with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure thorough investigations are conducted.
  • Specialize in investigative areas, including trial preparation and white-collar crimes.
  • Testify in court proceedings, including Dunlap hearings, evidentiary hearings, preliminary hearings, trial, and Grand Jury proceedings.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A combination of education at the collegiate level in criminology, penology, police science, or a closely related field and responsible criminal investigative experience totaling six years.
  • Possession of a valid Peace Officer Basic Certificate issued by the State of California Commission on Peace Officers Standards (POST).

  • Knowledge of existing criminal codes and laws, modern investigative techniques and methods.
  • Presenting and preserving evidence.
  • Techniques of drawing and photography relating to investigative work.
