Job Responsibilities:
As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will utilize CAD technology to create detailed layouts of fire sprinkler systems, including assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams. Your designs will encompass all necessary views and dimensions to facilitate efficient field installation. You will also prepare submittals, secure permits, and adhere to project timelines. While making decisions of moderate complexity, you will consult with senior designers and management for guidance on more challenging issues.

Key Duties:
  • Develop shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and material lists while ensuring compliance with applicable NFPA/local/state codes and project specifications.
  • Conduct accurate field surveys as required.
  • Coordinate shop drawings with the MEP team and General Contractor using NavisWorks.
  • Create submittal packages for Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), contractors, and others, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained.

Project Management Tasks:
  • Procure materials, review draft change orders, generate Requests for Information (RFIs), and maintain project schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with field personnel, AHJs, clients, sales representatives, and field supervisors.
  • Maintain full responsibility for project approvals, material procurement, coordination, and scheduling.
  • Participate in all project-related meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills:
  • Ability to interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), AutoCAD, and Fire Sprinkler Design software (e.g., AutoSprings, HydraCAD).
  • Familiarity with hydraulic calculations, project design, and management.
  • Practical experience in designing Wet, Dry, and Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems.
  • Knowledge of general construction practices and terminology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, capable of working within a team environment.
  • Understanding of NFPA 13, 13D, 13R, 14, 20, and related Codes/Standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in Fire Protection Design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Fire Sprinkler Design Software is essential.
  • Familiarity with Revit, NavisWorks, and AutoSprink is advantageous.
  • NICET II or III certification preferred (or the ability to obtain within 6 months).
