Job Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Advanced Practice Providers at Highmark Health play a crucial role in the healthcare delivery framework, collaborating to foster a healing atmosphere by prioritizing our patients. The APP delivers both primary and acute healthcare services for various health conditions, whether acute or chronic, tailored to specific patient demographics in line with the relevant scope and standards of practice, as well as the organization’s policies, values, and mission.

This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, with no weekend or holiday commitments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough and precise patient histories, review medical records, and perform comprehensive physical assessments. (30%)
  • Order and interpret laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic tests appropriate for the patient's complaint, age, gender, and health status. (5%)
  • Make clinical diagnoses and initiate suitable treatment within the defined scope and standards of practice. (5%)
  • Ensure accurate documentation to support medical coding and billing processes. (5%)
  • Provide guidance and information regarding medical care to patients and their families. (5%)
  • Document and communicate relevant information in the electronic medical record (EMR) and to the attending physician. (5%)
  • Perform hospital rounds and document patient progress notes; accurately transcribe and execute specific orders as directed by the attending physician. (5%)
  • Implement emergency protocols and treatments in critical situations such as cardiac arrest, hemorrhage, or shock. (5%)
  • Timely inform the attending physician of any significant changes in the patient's condition. (5%)
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education. (5%)
  • Actively participate in the education of medical students and professional staff, leveraging personal expertise. (5%)
  • Contribute to patient safety, quality improvement initiatives, and patient satisfaction efforts. (5%)
  • Adhere to compliance standards set by the medical staff office. (5%)
  • Uphold professional practice aligned with the organizational mission and advanced practice objectives. (5%)
  • Execute specialty-specific procedures and responsibilities as outlined in the privileging and job agreement. (5%)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited program OR a Pennsylvania Board of Nursing Approved Master's or Post Master's program.
  • Current Pennsylvania Physician Assistant License OR Current Pennsylvania CRNP license along with a valid Pennsylvania RN license.
  • CRNPs must secure Pennsylvania Prescriptive Authority license within 60 days of employment.
  • National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.

Preferred

  • 1-3 years of experience in a relevant department.
  • ACLS certification.
  • DEA license.
