Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Plant Manager to join our team at our wastewater treatment plant. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for assisting with the planning, organization, and management of daily operations, maintenance, and testing of our wastewater system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Order and follow up on spare parts, creating requisitions in our purchasing system.
  • Provide high-level oversight to operations and maintenance leads.
  • Administer our CMMS program, ensuring accurate data entry and reporting.
  • List, organize, and prioritize critical needs and operational issues.
  • Provide operational support to nearby facilities as needed.
  • Oversee lab operations, validating data and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assure that our PCMP program is being followed, recommending updates as needed.
  • Review and validate Hach WIMS data entry.
  • Help implement process control policies, procedures, and directives to improve plant performance.
  • Continually monitor processes to ensure compliance with NPDES reporting requirements.
  • Verify accuracy and train operators on all plant instrumentation.
  • Monitor chemical dosing to improve usage and meet cost-saving initiatives.
  • Monitor plant safety requirements, including MIR, job observations, site-specific safety reviews, and proactive safety and leading indicator logs.
  • Set up training schedules for new hires.
  • Develop refresher training schedules for critical plant processes.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent related experience with completion of an accredited management course.
  • Three to five years of progressive lead and/or supervisory experience within a wastewater treatment environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of water/wastewater treatment, water distribution, and wastewater collection methods, techniques, principles, and practices.
  • Lab experience for permit testing requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose process problems and manage remedial action.
  • Exposure to budget preparation and cost control, with the ability to forecast budget, staffing, and equipment needs.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate, effective, and complete written communications and reports.
  • Strong PC skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Familiarity with maintenance, operation, regulatory reporting, and cost estimating software.
  • Proficiency in the care and use of all site-specific, facility-required PPE.
  • Demonstrated commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Code of Business Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required by site.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with an understanding of Human Resources/Relations principles.
  • Knowledge of Process/Operations Management, QA/QC procedures, Safety, Environmental, and Facilities Capital Equipment Management.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Highest level of certification as a wastewater operator required by site.
  • Valid Driver's license and safe driving record.
