Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise Laboratory Operations: Oversee the daily activities of the laboratory, including administrative and technical support, review of test results, problem resolution, and financial management.
  • Human Resource Management: Manage human resources, including hiring, firing, performance evaluations, and training.
  • Budget Development and Management: Develop and manage the laboratory budget in conjunction with the Manager.
  • Specimen Collection and Preparation: Supervise the collection, accessioning, and preparation of specimens for analysis, testing, and reporting.
  • Test Development and Implementation: Develop and implement new tests and procedures in the laboratory.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the laboratory meets quality assurance standards, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Laboratory Accreditation: Maintain laboratory accreditation, including proficiency testing and inspection preparation.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience as a Medical Technologist, with at least one year in a lead or supervisory position.
  • Certifications: Certified Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS ABHI) certification is strongly recommended.
  • Licensure: Must possess a current license as a State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in the appropriate area or be eligible for a temporary license.
