This role serves as the primary contact for all inspection-related inquiries and involves close collaboration with clients to identify potential concerns and offer expert recommendations.

Position Summary: As the Manager of Fire Protection Inspection Services, you will supervise a team of Fire Protection Inspectors, Extinguisher Technicians, and Kitchen Suppression Technicians tasked with conducting inspections and maintenance of various facilities to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations. Your responsibilities will include coordinating inspection schedules, providing technical support, ensuring the quality of inspections, and overseeing compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Guide, supervise, and mentor a team of Fire Protection Inspectors and Technicians.
  • Organize and prioritize inspection schedules to enhance efficiency and meet compliance requirements.
  • Conduct performance assessments, offer constructive feedback, and identify training needs for team members.
  • Inspection Management and Quality Control:
  • Oversee the planning and execution of fire protection inspections.
  • Manage daily operations of the fire protection extinguisher and kitchen suppression departments.
  • Ensure adherence to fire safety regulations, codes, and standards related to fire extinguisher and kitchen suppression systems.
  • Review inspection reports for accuracy and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Coordinate the inspection, testing, and servicing of fire extinguishers and kitchen suppression systems according to regulatory requirements.
  • Schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks to ensure all systems are operational and ready for use.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks to uphold high standards of inspection performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Record Keeping:
  • Stay informed about fire safety codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., NFPA, IBC, local codes).
  • Ensure inspections are performed in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, violations, corrective actions, and compliance status.
  • Keep accurate inventory records of fire extinguishers, including locations, types, inspection dates, and service histories.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder fire extinguishers and parts as necessary.
  • Technical Knowledge and Problem Resolution:
  • Provide expert guidance on fire protection systems, equipment, and procedures.
  • Assess inspection findings and recommend enhancements to fire protection systems based on best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Address complex fire safety challenges and collaborate with stakeholders to implement effective solutions.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
  • Engage with building owners, managers, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders regarding inspection outcomes and compliance issues.
  • Effectively communicate with internal teams and external parties to coordinate inspections and resolve issues.
  • Continuous Improvement and Training:
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing inspection processes and documentation.
  • Develop and implement training programs for inspectors to improve their skills and knowledge of regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in fire protection inspections, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Preferred certification as a Fire Inspector or Fire Protection Specialist.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fire safety codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., NFPA, IBC).
  • Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in utilizing inspection tools, software, and applications.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Preferred certification as a Fire Extinguisher Technician or similar credential.

Work Environment:

  • This role involves a combination of office work and field inspections.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for inspections or meetings.
