Job Description

At MITRE, we're committed to tackling our nation's toughest challenges and creating a better future for all. As a Software Systems Engineer on our N211 Army Mission Command Networks team, you'll play a critical role in shaping the Army's digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Streamline strategic and installation network operations to enhance security and data exchange through identity credentialing and access management (ICAM).
  • Recommend strategies to integrate network operations into a singular, intuitive user interface, enabling Signal Soldiers to plan, manage, monitor, and defend the network more effectively.
  • Engage with stakeholders to analyze operational requirements, address network operations challenges, and recommend sound technology solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and evaluate commercial technologies to advance the state of NetOps.
  • Lead and direct trade studies and technical assessments to inform network modernization efforts.

Requirements:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Possess and maintain a minimum of Secret level security clearance.
  • Understanding of system development life cycles (SDLC) and system architecture.
  • Ability to analyze requirements, design solutions, and manage system integration.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools for system performance evaluation.
  • Familiarity with system design and acquisition, including Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA).
  • Experience with use of open standards, modular components, and interoperability.
  • Knowledge of agile software development processes for continuous updates.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices and testing, including requirements development, analysis & traceability, and requirements management.
  • Ability to write technical reports and/or present briefings of analysis, findings, and recommendations to Government sponsors.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to present highly technical material to a diverse audience.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Army's tactical communication systems used in field operations, including Lower Tier and Upper Tier.
  • Experience or knowledge of network equipment deployed in Tactical Networks, including radios.
  • Active TS/SCI.
