Position Overview:

The Licensed Nutrition Specialist is dedicated to delivering exceptional services to a diverse clientele and their families through proficient clinical skills, effective communication, and collaborative teamwork. This role emphasizes the assessment and management of nutritional and dietary requirements for children from birth to three years, addressing various dietary concerns that families may encounter. The clientele includes children on the Autism spectrum and those experiencing failure to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains an active caseload, ensuring a minimum of six billable units weekly, while delivering authorized services to clients.
  2. Monitors and evaluates client treatment objectives, implementing therapy plans efficiently during sessions.
  3. Engages in collaborative discussions with colleagues regarding shared cases at least once a month, as documented in treatment notes.
  4. Participates in ongoing professional development through staff in-services and mandatory meetings.
  5. Builds and sustains positive relationships with clients, family members, caregivers, and colleagues, providing educational support and training as needed.
  6. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team through regular meetings, emails, and phone calls to enhance professional growth.
  7. Completes necessary reports and submits them to designated recipients within the established deadlines set by supervisors.
  8. Effectively communicates and collaborates with relevant agencies, community members, clients, families, and coworkers.
  9. Engages in continuing education workshops to remain informed about professional practices, providing proof of attendance.
  10. Promotes inclusivity and demonstrates respect and appreciation for colleagues and clients.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  2. Required clinical experience, with a minimum of one year in a pediatric setting or one year of conditional employment under the mentorship of a licensed clinician in the specific discipline. Clinical fellowships are also acceptable.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively in various settings, including phone, email, and group environments.
  4. Possession of a New York State Professional License (Dietician).
  5. Certification of Competence or registration from a national accreditation organization.
  6. Valid driver's license.
