Clinical Nutrition Specialist

Position Overview:

The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is dedicated to delivering exceptional nutritional services to a variety of clients and their families through proficient clinical skills, effective communication, and collaborative teamwork. This role primarily focuses on assessing and addressing the dietary needs of children from birth to three years, including those with specific challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and failure to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains an active caseload, ensuring a minimum of six billable units of service weekly, and delivers authorized nutritional services to clients.
  2. Monitors and evaluates client treatment objectives, implementing therapy plans efficiently during sessions.
  3. Engages in regular collaboration with colleagues on shared cases, documented through treatment notes.
  4. Participates in ongoing professional development through staff in-services and mandatory meetings.
  5. Builds and sustains positive relationships with clients, family members, caregivers, and colleagues, providing education and training as needed.
  6. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team through meetings, emails, and calls to support professional growth.
  7. Completes and submits reports to designated recipients by specified deadlines set by supervisors.
  8. Communicates effectively with related agencies, community members, clients, families, and coworkers.
  9. Attends continuing education workshops to remain informed about best practices in the field, providing documentation of participation.
  10. Promotes an inclusive environment, demonstrating respect and appreciation for diversity among coworkers and clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Required clinical experience, with a minimum of one year in a pediatric setting or equivalent mentorship under a licensed clinician.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of engaging effectively in various settings.
  • Possession of a New York State Professional License (Dietician).
  • Certification of Competence or registration from a recognized national accreditation body.
  • A valid driver's license.
