Job Summary

This is a key leadership role that oversees the development and implementation of clinical informatics strategies to support quality patient care and professional practice at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford. The Chief Nursing Informatics Officer will provide strategic direction for health informatics programs, projects, and services in support of the hospital's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement clinical informatics strategies to support quality patient care and professional practice.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for health informatics programs, projects, and services.
  • Collaborate with administrative teams, clinical leaders, information technology, process improvement, financial services, and quality/regulatory/risk management to develop high-quality, sustainable, and innovative clinical information systems.
  • Ensure that clinical informatics research and evidence-based nursing knowledge are incorporated into clinical informatics practice and clinical decision support.
  • Represent Stanford Children's clinical informatics program to partners and outside entities, actively engaging with the national clinical informatics community, presenting at conferences, staying up-to-date on clinical informatics literature, and developing and sharing best practices with colleagues in the clinical informatics community.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
  • Bachelor and/or Master must be in Nursing.
  • Doctorate in Nursing and a professional certification in Informatics are preferred.
  • Broad and extensive and progressively responsible directly work experience, including clinical nursing experience and information system/informatics administration experience, preferably in a large hospital, which includes leadership of a development team implementing a major information system, and some experience in a management/supervisory capacity.
