Overview and Mission:

Mountain Village Charter School is a public, tuition-free elementary charter institution located in Plymouth, NH, dedicated to innovative education since its inception.

As we expand from lower elementary grades, we are excited to introduce additional upper elementary classes. Our curriculum merges Montessori principles with a nature-centric philosophy, adhering to Common Core Standards, providing students with both a Montessori environment and ample outdoor experiences each day.


We are on the lookout for dynamic educators who are ready to embrace challenges. Mountain Village Charter School is in search of a dedicated Lead Teacher for our Upper Elementary program, as we prepare to add another 4th-6th grade class, bringing our total to two.


We seek exceptional educators eager to infuse creativity into their teaching and who are passionate about implementing nature-based, Montessori methodologies.

As a Lead Teacher, you will oversee all facets of your students' educational journey and cultivate strong relationships with parents.

Additional responsibilities include fostering your professional growth, collaborating with colleagues, and fulfilling administrative tasks.

All educators participate in regular meetings, observe one another, provide guidance, and serve as mentors in areas such as nature-based education, curriculum management, classroom organization, record keeping, and addressing student needs.


The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of experience in both Montessori and nature-based teaching at the upper elementary level.

They will prioritize student-centered learning and have a passion for outdoor education.

Key Responsibilities:
Direct the learning environment in one 4th-6th grade Upper Elementary Montessori classroom with up to 24 students, collaborating with a full-time teaching assistant.
Work alongside the Upper Elementary team, which includes another 4th-6th grade class and a middle school 7th-8th grade class.
Foster a safe and productive learning atmosphere through positive behavior management techniques.
Lead daily outdoor explorations and structured lessons, regardless of weather conditions.
Ensure student safety during outdoor activities.
Prepare periodic written assessments for parents (2-4 times per year) and lead parent-teacher conferences.

Implement necessary steps to meet NH Common Core standards in the classroom and participate in state assessments.

Maintain professional interactions with all members of the school community: parents, administrators, students, staff, and volunteers.
Commit to ongoing professional development and excellence in teaching.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher (preferably in Education or a related field)
Proven experience teaching elementary-aged students
Background in outdoor education or nature mentoring
NH Teacher Certification
Montessori Certification (preferred)
Ability to collaborate with faculty to enhance curriculum and community
Commitment to professional growth and best educational practices
Experience with diverse instructional methods
Understanding of multi-age learning environments
Knowledge of supporting students in meeting Common Core Standards
Dedication to addressing the needs of each child
First Aid and CPR Certification (Wilderness First Aid, WAFA, or WFR preferred)
Proficiency in technology use
A positive attitude, sense of humor, and enthusiasm for being part of an innovative charter school.
