Job Overview

Position Summary:

We are offering a $1,500 sign-on bonus for the Lead Teacher role. This position involves collaborating with a co-teacher to create engaging and age-appropriate educational experiences for children. The Lead Teacher will actively participate in children's activities and foster the development of essential self-help skills.

General Responsibilities:

The Lead Teacher will maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, adhering to directives from the Children's Learning Center Director and state regulations.

Supervision:

This role reports directly to the Children's Learning Center Director and supervises children enrolled in the program.

Key Duties:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of weekly, monthly, and yearly educational plans.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork abilities to support colleagues.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children in care.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the classroom in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Model appropriate behavior and redirect children as necessary.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development, achieving at least 18 hours annually.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Engage in parent-teacher conferences as needed.
  • Participate in special events such as open houses and curriculum nights.

Qualifications:

As mandated by the NH State Child Care Licensing Bureau, candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years old, and have a minimum of 1,000 hours of experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting. Additionally, candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:

  • 18 credits in child development or related fields, including 3 credits in child growth and development, along with 1,000 hours of relevant experience.
  • 12 credits in related coursework and 3,000 hours of experience.
  • Documentation of a non-expired Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  • A credential from an accredited teacher preparation program.
  • Five years as a licensed family childcare provider without enforcement actions.
  • Completion of the New Hampshire Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program.
  • 1,000 hours of supervised childcare experience, plus completion of a two-year vocational course with additional credits.
  • Documentation of qualification for the Lead Teacher position prior to the implementation of state rules in 2017.

Physical and Mental Demands:

This role may require dexterity for operating office equipment, mobility for errands, and the ability to sit for extended periods. The position may involve lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Working Environment:

Frequent interaction with parents and daily engagement with children is expected. The role may also involve assisting young children with personal care.
