Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Associate to join our team at the University of Rochester. This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in the success of our department's teaching mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with research instructors to design and implement laboratory protocols for undergraduate courses.
  • Assist faculty researchers in the design of research projects and preparation of experiment proposals.
  • Organize and conduct laboratory activities in accordance with approved protocols.
  • Analyze and evaluate experimental data, and interpret results within the scope of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with University policy and federal and state laws regarding health and safety practices.
  • Maintain an active inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment, and work with vendors to order materials as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Department's undergraduate office to create course schedules for each new semester.
  • Provide training and technical support to teaching assistants, and advise instructors on the best TAs for each semester.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Master's degree and 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • PhD in biological science, particularly in molecular biology, large-scale cell and organism culture and microscopy is preferred.
  • Extensive experience designing and running experiments, and managing a lab staff.
  • Experience with budget management and equipment inventory.
