Position Summary:

The Field Services Technician is expected to exhibit exceptional customer service skills. This position entails spending a significant amount of time at customer locations, where you will engage with clients and management teams. Providing excellent service during installations and troubleshooting is crucial. Responsibilities include all aspects of customer installation and ongoing service support.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Field Services Technician, your primary duties will include:

  • Installation, repair, and maintenance of all products and services offered by Orlando Telephone Company.
  • Handling various technologies including telephone systems, copper, coaxial, and fiber connections.
  • Providing support for cable television, internet services, and broadband technologies.
  • Managing installations and maintenance of networking equipment and telephony systems.
  • Conducting basic troubleshooting for network security and wireless services.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality service and identifying customer needs.

General Duties:

  • Responding to service requests in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Availability for after-hours work and emergency response during outages.
  • Maintaining readiness to address service calls while on call.
  • Participating in emergency schedules during adverse weather conditions.
  • Promoting additional services and products to customers.
  • Performing fiber optic troubleshooting and splicing as required.
  • Upholding safety, productivity, and quality standards in all work.
  • Maintaining a clean and professional vehicle and appearance.
  • Demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications is required.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • SCTE Certification is preferred or must be obtained within one year.
  • Experience with networking and telephony installations is essential.
  • Ability to operate signal level and power meters.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge are necessary.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various environments.
  • Familiarity with OTDR and fusion splicing is advantageous.
  • Proficient computer skills for processing service tickets and documentation.
