Job Overview

A Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer plays a crucial role in validating that the developed software is meticulously tested prior to its deployment in production environments. As a vital member of the Integrations Team, the QA Engineer aids in the ongoing enhancement of data exchange processes. The ideal candidate will collaborate with Engineers, Technical Leads, Business Analysts, and fellow QA Engineers to ensure that deliverables are on schedule and meet quality standards. This position necessitates effective coordination with team members to address identified issues. The successful candidate will exhibit exceptional attention to detail and demonstrate consistent follow-through.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing, developing, and executing both manual and automated testing scripts utilizing open-source tools.
  • Preparing comprehensive test plans, test cases, and documentation for new interfaces within a development cycle.
  • Ensuring that test documentation is suitable for presentation to Change Control, and validating that critical features function correctly in production.
  • Continuously seeking to enhance testing efficiency, including assessing testing libraries, setting up test patients, and identifying opportunities for automation.
  • Conducting end-to-end data flow validation across various Healthcare Standards.
  • Troubleshooting and determining the root causes of issues.
  • Creating well-documented descriptions of issues necessitating code modifications and assisting in the coordination of their resolution.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
  • Familiarity with software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences. A strong customer service orientation is essential.
  • In-depth understanding of Healthcare standards, including HL7 V2 messages, HL7 CCDA, HL7 FHIR, and IHE ITI transactions.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems and challenges.
  • Capability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and subject matter experts from various fields (clinical, business, technical).
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality data that meets client and end-user requirements.
  • Knowledge of network connectivity and security principles (VPN, whitelisting, certificates, etc.) is required.
Education and Experience

Candidates should possess the following:
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or information systems is preferred.
  • Experience with Javascript, XML, Mirth Connect, HL7 Interfaces, and FHIR resources is required.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in Healthcare Integrations is required.
  • Experience in Healthcare IT is required.
