Position Summary:

The Automotive Service Instructor is tasked with delivering the established curriculum effectively and professionally. Responsibilities include grading assignments, maintaining attendance records, and fostering a conducive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver approved lesson plans to students
  • Review course requirements with students at the beginning of each term
  • Address student inquiries to ensure comprehension of material
  • Enforce safety protocols and monitor compliance
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere and guide students in their professional development
  • Resolve classroom issues as they arise
  • Oversee all classroom activities, including lectures and lab sessions
  • Track student attendance and address punctuality concerns
  • Document student performance and interactions in a timely manner
  • Collect assignments from a portion of students to meet accreditation standards
  • Participate in ongoing training to enhance teaching methods
  • Collaborate with the Program Supervisor to address student retention challenges
  • Provide academic guidance to students as needed
  • Prepare lab areas for instructional activities
  • Implement automotive repair scenarios for student practice
  • Support the maintenance of program tools and equipment
  • Demonstrate repair techniques as required by the curriculum
  • Manage the tool room and ensure its security
  • Inspect student workspaces at the conclusion of each class

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Foster industry relationships to secure guest speakers and employment opportunities for students
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This role involves medium physical activity, including occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds. Instruction may require standing for extended periods, effective communication of complex topics, and interaction with students. The work environment may expose the instructor to chemicals and noise.

Working Hours:

This is a full-time position with hours from Monday to Thursday.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Associate's degree or completion of a certificate program in Automotive Technology or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years (4,000 hours) of experience in Automotive Repair or a related field.
