Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized RN Surgery Coordinator to join our team at Carle Health. As a key member of our perioperative services team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the operation of the daily surgery schedule, case assignment, room and personnel assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and supervise the operation of the daily surgery schedule, case assignment, room and personnel assignments.
  • Assume responsibility for the operation of the Surgery Department, Sterilization Department, and Endoscopy Department when the Manager is not present.
  • Monitor case progression to identify potential schedule changes and assign, coordinate, and monitor utilization of personnel and facilities.
  • Provide for the assignment of lunch and break relief for intraoperative staff and collaborate with charge anesthesiologist to ensure that the schedule runs efficiently in accordance with policies and protocols.
  • Provide assistance and leadership to the staff to ensure departmental objectives and assignments are accomplished as scheduled.
  • Act as a resource person for clinical care problems in all areas and market department's services and equipment to physicians.
  • Work to maintain a positive team relationship with physicians and coworkers and monitor/coordinate special equipment.
  • Evaluate the level of patient care delivered in the operating room and recommend changes to ensure compliance with established standards of nursing care.
  • Coordinate staff work and vacation schedules to provide adequate staff availability for scheduled caseload and supervise and assist various specialty Lead RN's as needed.
Requirements
  • College Diploma in Nursing.
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License upon hire and BLS within 30 days of hire.
  • 2 years' experience specific to patient population.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.
  • Multicultural sensitivity.
  • Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
