Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough cleaning of assigned areas, including patient rooms, floors, and ancillary areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of sanitation and hygiene in all areas, including the use of proper chemicals and equipment.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including infection prevention standards.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly EVS closet, EVS cart, and all equipment.
  • Report any safety hazards or equipment in need of repair to supervisor and/or Facilities.
  • Replenish paper, soap supplies, and hand sanitizer as needed.
  • Hang cubicles/drapes according to department policy.
  • Participate in special project assignments, including coordinating with affected departments and posting informational signs.
  • Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as requested, adhering to departmental safety and lifting procedures.
  • Responsible for properly mixing and storing chemicals to achieve correct dilution ratio.
  • Use proper personal protective equipment, including safety goggles when needed.
  • Read directions carefully and ask supervisor when in doubt.
  • Use wet floor signs, etc. to block off work area.
  • Makes beds in accordance with specific area needs.
  • Identify and utilize bed tracking phone/pager, places bed in EPIC and removes when bed has been completed.
  • Respond to phone/pager call from supervisor within 5 minutes.
  • Report phone/pager problems to supervisor.
  • Log out of EPIC.
  • Ensure dismissal rooms are ready for the next patient.
  • Use Xenex UV Light robot for specified rooms where available.
  • Return soiled and clean unused mops to department and place in proper containers/areas.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Properly handle, transport, and dispose of all waste types, including hazardous, infectious, sharps, confidential, recycling, regular trash, and universal.
  • Complete DOT Certification in order to package and transport regulated medical waste.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous cleaning experience helpful.
Special Physical Demands

This is considered very heavy work. While performing the duties of this job, the partner is regularly required to perform repetitive motions related to the following: stand, walk, finger, handle, feel, grasp, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms. The partner is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The partner is frequently required to climb (using step stool or ladder), balance, and stoop, kneel, twist, bend, crouch, or crawl. The partner is occasionally required to smell. The partner must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.

Level of Supervision

Supervised by EVS Tech 3/Team Leads, Supervisors, Manager, and/or Director. Work is performed according to standard practices and procedures with some independent judgment required.
