Environmental Services Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Technician to join our team at Mercy Health System. As an Environmental Services Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Perform thorough cleaning of assigned areas, including patient rooms, floors, and ancillary areas.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including infection prevention standards.
- Maintain a neat and orderly EVS closet, cart, and equipment.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment in need of repair to supervisor and/or Facilities.
- Replenish paper, soap supplies, and hand sanitizer as needed.
- Hang cubicles and drapes according to department policy.
- Participate in special projects, including coordinating with affected departments and posting informational signs.
- Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as requested, adhering to departmental safety and lifting procedures.
- Properly mix and store chemicals to achieve correct dilution ratios.
- Use personal protective equipment, including safety goggles, when needed.
- Make beds in accordance with specific area needs.
- Utilize bed tracking phone/pager and log out of EPIC.
- Ensure dismissal rooms are ready for the next patient.
- Use Xenex UV Light robot for specified rooms where available.
- Return soiled and clean unused mops to department and place in proper containers/areas.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations and standards.
- Properly handle, transport, and dispose of all waste types, including hazardous, infectious, sharps, confidential, recycling, regular trash, and universal waste.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Previous cleaning experience helpful.
This is considered very heavy work. While performing the duties of this job, the partner is regularly required to perform repetitive motions related to standing, walking, finger, handle, feel, grasp, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms. The partner is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The partner is frequently required to climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, twist, bend, crouch, or crawl. The partner is occasionally required to smell. The partner must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.
