Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineering Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that the mechanical designs for various projects align with company specifications and adhere to regulatory standards. This role will oversee the design process throughout the engineering and construction phases, prioritizing safety and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the unified concept as the project evolves through different phases.
  • Provide technical direction and maintain daily communication with mechanical engineering contractors.
  • Guide the formulation of mechanical design principles to ensure safety, functionality, and integration with existing facilities and modifications.
  • Review engineering drawings and pertinent calculations prepared by contractors.
  • Comprehend project timelines and critical milestones to offer timely technical support.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Act as a bridge between engineering contractors and operations/maintenance teams, optimizing costs, schedules, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and liaise with relevant regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Work closely with technical authorities to uphold company specifications and regulatory compliance.
  • Frame deviations in specifications and seek necessary approvals.
  • Contribute to updates of specifications and criteria.
  • Accept engineering deliverables from contractors.
  • Provide insights to support the decision-making process regarding project concepts.
  • Engage in the development of operational, maintenance, and startup strategies.
  • Participate in the project risk management process.
  • Involve in the materials procurement process, reviewing vendor proposals and assessing deviations.
  • Participate in relevant Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
  • Engage in mechanical engineering collaboration activities, including meetings and training sessions.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Stay informed about industry opportunities that may benefit company projects.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience in the oil and gas sector.
  • Understanding of operational and maintenance needs for upstream oil and gas processing facilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry codes and standards, including API tank codes, ASME pressure vessel codes, and HVAC regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in both brownfield and greenfield mechanical engineering projects within the oil and gas industry.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HVAC design for arctic environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Mechanical Engineer License in the relevant jurisdiction.
