Position Overview

The Mechanical Discipline Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the mechanical design for projects aligns with established specifications and adheres to regulatory and company standards. This role will oversee the design process throughout the engineering and construction phases, prioritizing safety and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the project’s single concept as it evolves through various phases.
  • Provide technical direction and maintain daily communication with mechanical engineering contractors.
  • Oversee the development of mechanical design principles to ensure safety, operability, and the integration of existing facility modifications with new projects.
  • Review engineering drawings and relevant calculations prepared by contractors.
  • Comprehend project timelines and critical milestones to offer timely technical support.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Act as a liaison between engineering contractors and operations/maintenance teams, optimizing project costs, schedules, and maintainability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain communication with relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Work closely with technical authorities to uphold specifications and standards.
  • Frame deviations in specifications and seek necessary approvals.
  • Contribute to updates of specifications and criteria.
  • Accept engineering deliverables from contractors.
  • Provide insights to support decision-making in development engineering.
  • Engage in the creation of operational, maintenance, and startup strategies.
  • Participate in the project risk management process.
  • Involve in the materials procurement process, reviewing vendor proposals and assessing deviations.
  • Take part in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
  • Engage in mechanical engineering collaboration activities, including training and development sessions.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Stay informed about industry opportunities that may benefit company developments.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience in the oil and gas sector.
  • Familiarity with operational and maintenance needs of upstream oil and gas processing facilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant industry codes and standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in both brownfield and greenfield mechanical engineering projects.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HVAC design in arctic environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Mechanical Engineer License in Alaska.
