Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineering Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that the mechanical design standards for various projects are achieved, aligning with company specifications and adhering to regulatory requirements. This role will oversee the design process throughout the engineering and construction stages to guarantee safety and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the unified concept as the project evolves through its various phases.
  • Provide technical oversight and maintain daily communication with mechanical engineering contractors.
  • Direct the formulation of mechanical design principles to prioritize safety, functionality, and integration with existing facilities and modifications.
  • Evaluate engineering drawings and pertinent calculations and documents produced by the engineering contractor.
  • Comprehend the project timeline and critical milestones to offer timely technical support.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive inter-discipline integration.
  • Act as a bridge between the engineering contractor and operations/maintenance teams, optimizing costs, schedules, functionality, and maintainability for project success.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and liaise with regulatory bodies as required for project scopes.
  • Work closely with technical authorities to guarantee adherence to company specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Frame deviations in specifications and criteria, seeking necessary approvals on behalf of the project.
  • Contribute to updates in specifications and criteria.
  • Accept engineering deliverables from contractors.
  • Provide insights to support decision-making regarding the unified concept.
  • Engage in the development of operational, maintenance, and startup strategies and plans.
  • Participate in the project risk management process.
  • Involve in the materials procurement process, reviewing and approving vendor proposals while assessing any deviations from the approved manufacturers list.
  • Participate in relevant Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
  • Engage in mechanical engineering collaboration activities, including regular meetings and training sessions.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing within the organization and industry.
  • Stay informed about opportunities within the company and industry that may benefit client developments.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering within the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Understanding of operational and maintenance requirements for upstream oil and gas processing facilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards, including API tank codes, ASME Pressure vessel codes, and HVAC equipment standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in both brownfield and greenfield mechanical engineering projects in the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HVAC design for arctic environments.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Mechanical Engineer License in Alaska.
