Job Title: Java Software DeveloperJob Summary:

Omitron, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Java Software Developer to join our team in Alexandria, VA. As a key member of our software engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing software systems that protect satellites from various hazards in space.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop software systems using Java and object-oriented programming principles.
  • Collaborate with senior scientists, mid-level engineers, and partner organizations to develop software applications that provide data to a scalable cloud service platform.
  • Interface with multiple teammates to develop software that screens satellite orbits for hazards.
  • Review, package, and update software to ensure it meets the required standards.
  • Work well in a team environment and independently to achieve project goals.
  • Develop strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Support and plan Agile sprints to break software development tasks into logical and efficient software packages.
  • Work with advanced analysts and system tier support to create procedures in support of ongoing operations.
  • Evaluate incoming scientific data for reasonableness.
  • Be adaptable to changing priorities in an operations environment.
Requirements:
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance with a willingness to take a CI Polygraph required.
  • Bachelor's degree with 0-2 years of experience in software engineering or software development with Java.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Oracle Java Certification (or equivalent).
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (or equivalent).
  • Red Hat Linux experience.
  • Experience with development tools such as Git, Maven, and Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX.
  • Windows experience.
  • Strong skill set with Jira.
  • Strong skill set with Confluence.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification or experience.
  • Experience serving government customers.
