Goulston Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Process Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the control and operation of our chemical processes, ensuring the quality of our batch manufacturing finished products.
Key Responsibilities- Process Control and Operation: Operate chemical processes to manufacture products throughout our facility, including reaction chemistry processes involving high temperature, vacuum, condensing, reflux, decanting, recovery of byproducts, etc.
- Training and Development: Lead training and mentoring activities for Chemical Operators and develop new organizational improvement methods, including cost reductions and productivity improvements.
- Logistics and Coordination: Coordinate staging of raw materials and use of logistics support.
- Procedure Development: Follow written production operating instructions and formulations and lead efforts to update procedures for efficiency and safety gains.
- Quality Assurance: Responsible for accurately adding and recording the required material amount specified, meeting all required quality criteria, including specified appearance.
- In-Process Quality Testing: Responsible for in-process quality testing with resulting batch/equipment adjustments.
- Data Analysis: Gather and record operating information and data, including use of data monitoring systems to track batch progress and make process decisions.
- Safety and Emergency Response: Responsible for safety, including recognition and understanding of chemical hazards such as flammable materials, corrosives, and high temperature processes, and actively involved in problem resolution as it relates to quality issues with batches.
- Equipment Maintenance: Regulate or shut down of equipment in case of emergency, participation in emergency response efforts, monitoring and inspection of equipment for subsequent scheduling/coordinating of maintenance efforts.
- Shift Coordination: Coordinate shift transfer as needed, including communication of process issues and batch status, coordinate needed schedule changes during off hours.
- Housekeeping and Spills: Direct personnel in the maintenance of housekeeping issues and or chemical spills as required.
- Additional Responsibilities: Assist with loading trucks as necessary, may be required to fill containers, and performs other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Experience: 6+ years of related experience and/or training.
- Certifications: Forklift License, Hazwoper 24 hr certification preferred.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, ability to analyze written information, ability to write basic procedures and work instructions, ability to present information and respond to questions from peers, supervisors and managers within the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Competencies: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Data Historian.
