The Waymo Driver underpins Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and is adaptable to various vehicle platforms and applications. With over one million rider-only trips facilitated, the Waymo Driver has autonomously navigated tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across more than 13 U.S. states.

Our Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams are at the forefront of transforming future technologies into reality. We oversee all production processes and supplier development strategies, encompassing contracts, purchasing, design improvements for manufacturing, quality assurance, and timely delivery. We work closely with Waymo's engineering teams and external partners to ensure that all products meet specifications and are delivered punctually to satisfy the increasing demands of our operations.

You will report directly to the Director of Strategic Sourcing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage collaboratively with Engineering, Supply Chain, quality assurance, finance, and other Waymo teams.
  • Facilitate communication between suppliers and Engineering/Supply Chain teams.
  • Formulate and execute the Sourcing Strategy for your designated area, fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Lead intricate ASIC costing and contract negotiations with silicon partners.
  • Interface and communicate effectively with Executives, both internally and externally.
  • Identify, cultivate, negotiate, and manage relationships with manufacturing partners for both short-term and long-term needs.
  • Oversee daily operations and relationships with our silicon foundry, OSAT, and IP licensing partners.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing partners to manage new supplier onboarding, development builds, risk mitigation, and ramp-up processes.
  • Conduct scheduling, capacity, and supply planning to align with development and production requirements.
  • Assess technical and business risks through data-driven analysis and develop robust risk mitigation strategies.
  • Execute cost modeling, negotiation, and implementation of part and sub-assembly cost strategies.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience in Sourcing Management or Supply Chain Management within technology sourcing roles.
  • Experience managing foundry and OSAT suppliers within Supply Chain Management.
  • Proven track record in complex negotiations and agreements with foundry/OSAT supply bases, IP licensing suppliers, and specialized agreement structures.
  • In-depth understanding of cost models encompassing all foundry and packaging stages, including margins and pricing.
  • Experience enhancing supply chain and supplier performance, utilizing cost models and objective-based performance metrics in CM, ODM, and OEM settings.
  • Proficient in contract negotiation and tracking component and module-level costs.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with industrial design, development, legal, and operations teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of the High-tech Silicon/Semiconductor industry with over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • International experience with the ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with high-performance computers/servers and/or automotive technologies.
  • Experience managing Silicon vendors, Semiconductor Components, Software, and Services.
  • Experience in multinational environments, driven by achieving world-class objectives.
  • Master's degree or MBA.
