Job Summary

The Compliance Specialist supports and assists with document review and processes related to internal and external payer audits to ensure that Handi Medical Supply is compliant with laws, rules, and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees and handles external payer audits as well as internal file, payer, and accreditation audits
  • Conducts comprehensive audit reviews, encompassing documentation retrieval and review, quality assurance, timely audit submission, tracking, appeals, and timely claim release
  • Compiles and presents audit findings, identifies trends, and recommends improvements to enhance the documentation process
  • Communicates effectively with all management levels to ensure a complete understanding of objectives, risks, controls, and observations
  • Maintains organized records and databases of all audited documentation, tracking any corrections or updates
  • Makes recommendations for process improvements as needed
  • Prepares audit reports based on audit findings derived from and supported by the audit work papers
  • Assists in appraising the appropriateness of corrective action taken to improve deficient conditions
  • Serves as resource to business unit compliance officers
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two-years related experience in medical documentation review, auditing, or related roles in the healthcare industry
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance policies, and compliance regulations related to home medical equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external healthcare providers
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with internal and external healthcare providers
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • General working knowledge in Microsoft Word
  • General working knowledge of computer systems
  • Maintains a professional image at all times while demonstrating commitment to our mission and values
